i would like the option to record a DI guitar and an amp at the same time using an A2D and a Digi002.
so what is the best way?
-could i use the A2D line in> S/PDIF signal straight to 002, and take the analog output from the A2D to the amp and mic with the second A2D channel? (level problems? could i keep the gain low enough for a proper signal for the amp and use the digital out level to make an acceptable recording level for the DI track?)
-could i use the A2D line in>S/PDIF into 002, and then on that track send to an aux track (use fader to lower the level for amp)>output direct to amp, then mic back through second A2D channel? (latency problems?)
can either method harm the amp if the level is too high, or will it just be noisy?
i read that a reamp box or DI/splitter should be used, but also read that they may be unnecessary...
in any case, i have no DI/splitter or reamp box or Radial products, and i am oh so far from a store (Mali...).
can i make this work?

If the input impedance on the amp is sufficiently high, you could bridge (split) the guitar output to both the amp and the front-panel unbalanced hi-Z input (470K Ohms) on the A2D. Connect the mic for the amp to the second A2D channel as normal and take the S/PDIF output to the S/PDIF input of the 002. In that way, you leave the 002's analog circuitry out of the loop, and you avoid the need for re-amping, which under other circumstances could well have been a good way to go.

If the level aspects don't get answered you could do this: record the guitar DI. Then mic up your amp and setup an analog out of the guitar track solo-ed running into the amp while recording the amp's mic. Then you'll have the DI plus the miked amp.
