KRK's. Stay away from the truths most people that like the truths never used anything else so they have nothing to compare them to. I've heard the KRK's and they sound great. Best bet though is you go anywhere you can and try them out, listen to what your ears tell you.

i just demo'd the KRK's out three nights ago and was going to post about them myself. i was really impressed, and thought they sounded great. they're resonably inexpensive, flat, and put out a great sound... in my inexperienced opinion at least. does anyone have anything to add - pro's or con's from experience with KRK's? i'm considering purchasing some and would like to know what everyone thinks. thanks.

The KRK Rockits are great for the price. For $600 you can get a pair of V6's which are a step above all of those you mentioned (Look in the "Hot Deals" Section).

KRK has really put out a great product. I've gone through so many monitors and KRK is the first "under $1000" pair that I've been satisfied with.

Anyone got any experience with Tapco S5 monitors? They're priced really nicely and I'm looking for some small, fairly flat response speakers to help out my A/B/C options.

I'm tacking this onto this thread because I'd also like to look at KRK and the Tapcos are in the same size/price range.

Moving up slightly. Would you say there's a big step up to the Dynaudio BM6As? What about Yamaha MSP5? Alot of people are raving about them and some of the "Gearslutz" seem to think they are inline to be the new NS10s!

Future Music pulished about three or four consecutive mags with monitor shoot-out's in differing price brackets.

The KRK's performed quite badley and were only suitable for rock music.

The Samson Resolve 65a's were the best in their class and even scored higher than most monitors in the next expensive class.

I can say the only music I've ever heard on the krk's is rock so that may be the truth. But also with those guys they all have shit like ADAM Audio stuff and higher end monitors so when they listen to cheaper ones they just don't perform for them. Matt you asked about Tapco's, one positive for them is I believe they are either built by mackie or built with mackie parts, at least according to sweetwater. Most people that own the mackies are pretty happy with them and for $500 and 8inch woofers the price isn't bad at all.

I disagree with the statement about the krk's and rock. I've used them on all types of music from classical to hiphop to rock. They sound great on all of it. If you have $2k to spend on a pair of monitors, then get something else. But these are a great value.

I would stat away from the Tapco for the price. They are made from cheaper parts and mainly sell because of their association with Mackie. Paying that much for Tapco's (which is a cheap version of Mackie) when you can get something like KRK or the Yamaha's for the same price is not a good move. I've a/b'ed the KRK's with a lot of monitors in their price range and slightly above, and they smoked everything. The detail is amazing...and this is where everyone else can't compete. I like them much better than the mackie 824's which I have used extensively. The next step up in my opinion would be the Dynaudio's.

Nice tips... "my ears have ADAM S2A im my heart"! It's dificult to stay way from "that" sound but the budget is short.

Samson Rubicon 6a with the same ART tweeter? Any user? Some tips for this monitor?
