Come on someone out there must have heard these tasty looking monitors!

tannoy ellipse

I am the lucky owner of a pair of tannoy´s ellipse 10'' monitors for a week now. I Compared the Tannoys to the Genelec 1030s I was working on before with recordings of all kinds of music and spoken voice, and I think they beat the genelecs in every aspect (of course the genelecs are smaller speakers).

- there is almost no fatigue (my ears started hurting after 2 or 3 hours with the genelecs, with the ellipse I can work untill I fall asleep)

- I think I can trust the ellipse soundwise more, nothing is overdominant - with the exception that my room is a bit bass-heavy, but this has nothing to do with the speakers, I guess.

- the stereo imaging is very wide and precise

- dynamics are fanstastic

- because of the dual-concentric speaker every sound comes from more or less the same place (except for the freqs. above 14kHz that come out of the "supertweeter"). This sounds more "natural" to me than conventional 2 or 3 way systems.

They also seem to be build solid as a rock and their visual appearance makes everyone smile. I just love them!

But as with any speaker opinions vary a lot, so try before you buy!

ellipse are powered!
