Anyone know what happened to the Tascam online form?. This used to be a great source for the MX-2424. They said they were updating the site, now I get "not on this server"...and some other meaningless jumbo about server access. I had been a registered member for nearly 4 years.

Thanks In Advance.

not as long a member here, and I only have a us224, and I am using xp, which was not focused on too much, in favor of the more established win 98, but still I will miss it if its truly gone as appearances indicate. A whole group to get feedback from is gone, no two ways about it.
Ah well, progress, quality, not quantity, I suppose. Let me focus on a thing I can affect

Can't speak officially for Tascam (haven't worked there in nearly 2 years), but there's plenty of US-428 support all over the web (I know...I put it there :D ). Most of the US-428 docs on the Tascam site are still reasonably current, although the Win2k/XP optimization doc is pretty out of date...that said, I did a new one for EM that came out in (I think) November.

As to the MX....can't comment, though I'm not aware of plans to discontinue it.

To paraphrase an old saying....Gossip comes and goes, but NDA's are forever.

When TASCAM shut down the forum they posted a message that said it would be down "for a while" and advised users to stay tuned for great things to come at TASCAM.com.

I'm still waiting for the forums to return. Thus far, I'm not impressed with the new website design. It offers very little new info - just a new design.

I hope they will bring back the user forums soon.

What's EM? I would look into it if I knew what it was. I have a 428, and am keen to know about software apps that will support it as a surface controller/interface. Here's the question of the hour in my little world: Will Cool Edit Pro 2.0 support the 428 in this regard?
Thanks for your consideration and time,
Rog.

EM = Electronic Musician magazine.

For the most part, we designed the 428 with a pretty generic MIDI spec. I provided units to almost any company that asked, and most of the existing DAW manufacturers used it in development and testing as they implemented controller support into their apps. With the exception of Sonic Foundry stuff (which uses key commands instead of MIDI), nearly every app should work with the 428, at least to some degree.

CEP v2 does work with the 428. Not sure about what Adobe's done with it now that they own it, though I cant' imagine they'd take out controller support.
