This is basically straight from mic. I have used some 1173-ish plugin compression on all tracks. Stereo-delay and flanger on lead-guitar.
I would EQ this further if I where to mix in other instruments, but as is now.
Some people have commented on this sounding "hollow", "muddy" or straight out "bad", and having some "obscene frequencies".
I pretty much like it though, and so do some other people. Throaty, dark, yet clear.
Is this love/hate?

It's a metronome playing with bass drum om counts and snare on bars.
It's a low-mid sound. If you would try to EQ it with a good EQ I am sure you will find the frequencies to be there.

Although metal music is something I need to shift mindsets for(say by thirty years or so :) ), I like the feel of what you are playing.
But the sound is missing definition, and it may be that the performance is weak and out of sync with the rhythm track. Definition is as much in the hands, and maybe more so than in guitar/amptone. That said, I thought it sounded better with a boost around 500-700k.
Do you have a good guitar equalizer pedal? I think its a must for good metal tones.

There's some combfiltereing going on I believe making it sound hollow, or kind of "old-school".

I still hear the drum beat a bit out of sync. Is the 5+6 guitar part played over a 4/4 drum beat with accent on the one, or was the drum beat added later in real time?

Yes, I would say that the tones are all usable. Some have complained a lot on the first one there, calling it hollow, muddy etc.
The last clip has a metronome playing 4/4, so the riff is odd-time. It was sort of inspired by a Meshuggah riff.
The performance on both are very first take. I was more into showing of the tone.
