Yamaha 01v and Cubase SX

Hello all,

:-?

Just purchased on 01v online and was looking for a information on how to setup within Cubase for audiovst recording playback. I have a RME 96/52 card in my machine with the INOUTS going correctly from the O1V into the 96/52.

If a record a vocal or a VST piece(the Grand or something like that),I can see the mixer generating movement and it does record something, just no sound on playback.

I can also move the sliders in Cubase using the O1V, so that's not a problem. Just can't hear anything.

by 'directly to the 01v' - does this mean that you're using the option card in the 01v? Is it the lightpipe card?

If so - you have to turn on the option i/o channels to hear it back (and route stuff to the i/o channels to record them).

The 01v manual (downloadable from Yamaha) has a pretty good explanation of this.

Also, the Yahoo 01v group is helpful.

Yes, I have an Option card going into my 96/52 card. You know, I went through the manual this weekend, and I'm not picking up how to do it. Could you walk me through the part where you say...

"you have to turn on the option i/o channels to hear it back (and route stuff to the i/o channels to record them). "

That would be great!..

Thank you in advance.

on the 01v - hit the 'option i/o' button.. and channels 1-8 are now seeing 17-24 (the 8 option card inputs) .. bring up those faders, turn on those channels... and you SHOULD hear playback...

this is assuming that the software mixer is sending audio out properly.

As for routing OUT of those - you need to go into the PAN/ROUTING section of the 01v.. from there, you can choose D, which will send a channel directly to it's option counterpart (1/8 to 17, 1/9 to 18, etc) or send channels to bus 1-4, and then send those to the option outputs.
