Well, as I said I just got my focusright ISA 428 and the other night I did some quick recordings using an SM57 Micing up a line-6 duoverb through a marshall cab. This is the first higher end preamp I have ever used. I was suprised by how much more reactive it made the sm 57 act. It was picking up much more than I have heard a 57 pick up (felt like I was using a condenser mic). Anyways, can't wait to really start recording with this preamp.

Ive heard good things about the 428 for drums. Just be careful where you put it in the rack. Friend of mine had the caps blow because it got too hot. Just don't put it on top of anything else that gets hot (he had his on his Demeter tube pres) and you should be fine.
