AAC vs MP3

I'm using this thread as a reference as I keep searching for better ways to upload, store and playback mp3 or AAC audio files directly from our server. I know very little about server side streaming but I sure would like to find a way to improve this for our forum.

It would fantastic if someone discovered how we could improve our biterate quality with a player that embed these audio formats into the forum.

Right now we have the ability to upload 192 biterate but anything higher that that on Firefox is having problems.

Since February this year:

If you embed (html5) audio/video players

On Windows7,Windows8,Vista,Android (and up) ,

FireFox now supports:

.Mp3 (Audio)

.AAC (Audio)

.Mp4 (Video H.264)

This means that the need for a dual-mode (Html/Flash) player (such as jPlayer , Jwplayer))

has minimised since now most important browsers can support a embedded Html5 (only) player.

So you can now use the simple html

If this is the case, I wonder why we are not able to play Mp3's flawlessly? Its hit and miss for me. Sometimes it works and other times the player hides after I hit the play button.

I don't remember which was giving me difficulty... I think it was Eternal Sound's audio posts that were disappearing, but I'd have to go check again to be sure.

I understand what you're saying about being accustomed to Firefox - I feel the same way. I used to use Explorer exclusively, until there came a day when it wouldn't do something I needed it to do ( I don' recall now exactly what that was), so I switched to FF and have been using it for a long time now. It shouldn't be that big of a deal for me to switch back to Explorer - but then again, you wouldn't think it should be that big of a deal for FF to update what they need to update and to support current and accepted formats, either.
