I got BFD lite and i love it. You can choose which mics you want (Overheads, Room, Kick, etc.) and control the dynamics on each mic.

BFD lite only came with a couple kits, but its still worth it.

I use a midi keyboard as a controler.

I love BFD. I've been using 1.5 for about a year and just upped to 2.0
The sounds are raw. They've done no processing. So the first time I hit a tom it sounded exactly the way I've always heard the raw mic sound coming through the control room monitors. It kinda makes you smile the first time you hear it.
You then need to do all the normal things you would do to drums. EQ, compress, etc. (depending on your style of music of course)
So when you audition the various pieces, at first you don't really know how well it sounds. In fact, they all sound just a little bland. The snares seem to be a bit whimpy and the kicks a little undefined.
But after you tweek them, they can become fantastic. There's a lot of different kits. So you can usually find 2 or 3 good drums of each piece that you need. There's a lot of cymbals that have standard hits as well as bell and edge hits. The hats are hit with both tips and shanks. lots of variety.
The 2.0 arsenal is better than the original V1.5's 7 kits. And the interface is far superior as well.
I'm using it with Logic8 mostly. It's not compatible with my PT setup (I'm on an older MIX system that ends at V6.)
