Can an active speaker be used as passive if amp dies?

This hasn't happened, however, I was wondering: Suppose I have a powered speaker, like Yamaha, QSC, etc. The amp in the speaker dies, or stops working for whatever reason. If that were to happen, could the speaker be powered via an external amp, and be used like a normal passive speaker?

Maybe, would need more info for the group to help. It may not be worth it.

  • Provided drivers survived when the amp died.
  • Depending on the speaker and its electronics (has tweeter, mid range), you may or may not need to add a crossover.

What speaker is it exactly?
