Hi I got an emu 1212 recently and some of you may have seen my earlier posts. All of my previous problems with gettin the hardware and software configured have been solved.
However now i notice that whilst i record the volume of the output rises and falls sporadically and when i play it back it stutters at times and makes popping noises.
Ive set the buffer latency to 5 as emu reccommend and tried it at 10 tho this didnt help. My cpu is a p3 1000mhz and i have 256 mb ram.
Anybody know what these problems could be attributed to?
Thanks

In addition to Kurt's recomendations I would add the following,

If your running 24/192 that machine can't handle it. I would suggest no more than 24/44.1 and that may be a stretch w/ only 256 MB of RAM

Are you running any Anti Virus or Firewall software. If so your just using up more of your Proceesor and RAM's resources. You don't have to delete them, just disable them when your recording or mixing. Your system tray should be empty except Emu's software, no Real Player Quicktime or anything thing else that puts itself in the sys tray on startup. If you have XP or 2K you can create a seperate logon for recording with only the minimum services loaded. For more on services check out

Start with checking for clock issues. Check next for software and services running in the background. Add RAM if you can afford it.
If these don't solve it let us know.
