I'm not sure exactly what the confusion is. Are there mounting screw holes at the bottom of the WA-12? Do you have screws to fit? There seem to be lots of holes/slots in the rack. Are they in the wrong place?

Email/call Warm if you are confused. Most small audio companies that I've dealt with are happy to talk to customers - especially concerning specific questions like this. It's better to be thought a fool for asking a question than to demonstrate it conclusively by jamming a screw with the wrong thread count into the mounting holes.

There's two (very small) screws in the bottom. They seem more for holding the case together than anything else. They're too short to mount through the bottom of the shelf into the unit without stripping (it'd hardly engage the threads at all.) And if you did, I think, given the diameter of the screws, they'd shear after a few light knocks.

Email them. See what they recommend for mounting. (Maybe taking off some rubber feet? Hard to say without seeing a unit.) You might get a response from the board, but I don't think we have too many regular participants who have the unit yet, so it would be better to email Warm. The Pre... Let me say I'm NEW as can be at pro audio. This is literally my first dedicated preamp. My previous experience is the XDR2's on my Mackie VLZ3-802. So with this massive disclaimer in hand, and only a few minutes I've had to play with the pre today:

1)It's got enough horsepower to get my SM7b to good level (recording spoken word.) That said, it's one click shy of maxed to get it there (and using the tone button.)
2) Noise, it does seem to have a little bit at the top end. Not near as much as the XDR2's on the Mackie. (I will say that I wonder if this could be something I've goofed up in my gain staging or equipment in general, remember NEWB.)
3) The "Tone Button" It definitely changes things. It definitely ups the gain (which I currently need.) I'm not yet sure it works well with my mic/voice. Gotta do some A/B but I think it may be muddying up my voice.

Again these are the opinings of a newb who's had only a few moments with his new toy.
SUMMATION: I really like it so far, probably will get another, I think it may wind up paired with a cloudlifter.

Bryce responded promptly to my email. (Actually got a response an hour or so later last night.) It's currently only designed to work with the "Unite" kit from Golden Age.

After some hours fiddling around last night and this morning I'll be ordering a Cloudlifter CL-2 next week. Me and the SM7b make a quiet combination. I seem to be picking up noise from the pre starting at about 54db. Engaging the "Tone" button increases the noise (along with the 6db gain.)

Hopefully the CL-2 will get me up to a good level in general, and allow me to dial the gain back out of the noise range.

I appreciate the offer, I've looked around and haven't been able to find a single negative comment on the CL-1/2 models. I'll be keeping my CL-2 and you can keep your money (but feel free to spend it on a Cloudlifter for yourself!)

I have one now, could use another ! I have an RE-20 and the SM-7 tha I use it with, but I also have a pair of Beyers (M130/160 pr) that can benefit from that little gem! Right now , they have to share... :(

Some half-rack gear uses accessory rack ears. Sometimes the rack ears center a single unit between two quarter-rack ears or put it to one side with one normal ear and one half-rack ear. Often half-rack gear using accessory ears is too tall to fit on a shelf.

That's pretty much it. The WA-12 is a "rack-ear" piece. You need 2 units and the appropriate ears to mount it up. Which I'll do... when I have the money (anyone want to donate so I can mount it up?)
