I am about to be done with an album (Late May)and am looking for mastering in the San Francisco Bay Area. How much time and money does good mastering usually run? I just want to get an idea of what to expect? We master some things ourselves, but after pouring our hearts and souls into this music for damn near 11 months, we want some fresh, experienced ears on it. How much do mastering houses like Bernie Grundman charge (just curious)?

Thank You Brad. I want to look for somebody in our area because we want to be there for the mastering as suggested by many. We don't have the budget for traveling. I want somebody with experience to tell us how we can make things better in out mixes etc, for future projects. I also want to learn how this stuff is done. I think it would be a great experience as long as we told ask too many questions, don't let the guy/gal work and run our bill up.
