Hi, i am recording a friends project soon and have the option of borrowing a few mic's from someone.
One of these mics is a Neumann m147 and having never used one I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to its uses/strong points etc ?
I am particularly interested to hear if it would be possible to use this mic alongside an AKG 414 as drum overheads (possibly glynn johns technique) ?
Regards

Hmm...
I don't know that I'd use them as a pair of overheads unless matched with another 147, not even for the GJ technique.
I would use it on kick drum, vocals, acoustic guitar and MANY other uses. It's a great mic. If you're recording upright bass...this is a go to mic.
