Hi,
I'd gotten an offer to buy an old piece of gear off from a estate sale. It is a Neve PSM 12x2.
Can any of you tell me about this board and what kind of Pre does it has. The guy bought the whole lot know nothing about audio and neither do I ...that much about Neve stuff.
He asking for $1k for this tiny board. Any suggestion how much it should cost. The thing look like it in good condition.
thanks

Here is what you do. Buy the Neve PSM board which I believe stands for Portable Sound Mixer and was intended for breadcast use. In anycase, purchase the board for $1000 and sell it to me for $1100. We all win. You give the guy a grand and you make an amazing $100.
Actually Julian, i've looked around for those and and seen them for over $12,000. It'd be cool to run the outs/stems of your PT through PSM for that nice fuzzy feeling. I mean the eq alone are worth it. Plus it looks way cool.
I'll borrow it from you for a week and put it through some tests. Then i'll skip town!
Take care.

Steal that thing...before your buddy figures out it's worth 12-14k. Well, that's what I've noticed they're going for depending on condition... I think I'm going to puke! :)
So what type of channels would it be loaded with then? Anythi

If it is anything like a BCM10 ... you will be very happy.

It's more like a mini-Melbourn than a BCM-10. Its mini-ness is at the cost of a full-featured equalizer--it has only a 2 band eq. It's preamps are probably similar to those in a class-AB 33114 or similar broadcast module.
If you'd like to know the whole story, I'd suggest a "Dear Mr. Tanner" letter to Geoff Tanner of [[url=http://[/URL]="http://www.phoenixa…"]Phoenix Audio[/]="http://www.phoenixa…"]Phoenix Audio[/] He's usually quite generous with his considerable knowledge on the subject of Neve consoles. He might also be able to give you an idea of how much it'd cost to modify it for direct outputs, etc (if that's possible or desired)
And finally, If it's really $1000, and you can get it... . . then I hate you. :D

Hi JT916!
Look, dude, deep inside you probably know you've been taken advantage of. You're obviously in denial, telling yourself what a prize you got. But I'm a sympathetic guy, and I feel your pain. I'll reimburse you the thousand bucks—just send that clunker to me, don't think nothing of it. No need to thank me, that's what friends is for!
