Does anyone know of a 4RU rack case for a PC that is wider than it is long, so it fits in an SKB road case. Most of the rack cases are too deep for an SKB.

David,

Gator makes a shallow rack, which I use and like. It will hold things about 10-12" deep, so that makes it about 14-16" deep with the front and rear lids on.

Also have an SKB X-rack, which is also shallow (10.5" rackable depth, I think), but I don't like it as much because the back access is quite restricted in the 4U size.

I think David meant the PC case small enough to fit into an Audio rack, not a smaller audio rack. I might be wrong.

They do exist. I did a lot of shopping for one not too long ago. As soon as I can dig up some of the links for them, I'll send them to you. It's bed time though, so it will have to be tomorrow.

Here's one of the case mfg's that I had checked out. They have several rack-mount cases but this one in particular is a short case:

They have a case matrix which shows you all the specs (or at least the basic ones) in a table to help you decide which one would be best.

As for shipping to Australia, I'm not sure how expensive it would be, but it might be worth it if you can't find one locally.

I had also looked at having one custom made from another manufacturer, but for only 1 it would have been $600 USD. Had I purchased 20 or more, the price would have been cut in half per unit, but that's still pricey!
