I've heard mixed reviews. Some say they are incredible monitors and others say they are too coloured, yet great sounding, but suited to the home entertainment etc.
I am very interested in them for their power and bass response.

Hi audiokid, yea I did the same thing, they seem like great monitors, just trying to find users. Hey I want to thank you for your input on my RodeNT1's matched pair. I sold them and got me a pair of Shure KSM32's, simply rock!!!.

Well of course it's true. Frequency response measurements are generally done with around 1 W of power. And anyhow, I think that advertising blah blah is BS. Everything is rated from 20-20,000 for advertising purposes. And anyhow, to reproduce 20 Hz, you would need a gigantic control room to allow a 20 Hz wave to be able to propagate properly. No control room is that big. It's like those jokers driving down the street with their boom boom car stereos. You can hear them from three blocks away because it requires that much space for those low frequencies to travel and propagate. They can't hear crap like that in their car as the airspace is too small. They can only feel the bass as they rattle the sheet metal and disturb people for blocks around. You can't fix stupid and you can't fix selfish people that want to share their crap noise with everybody else whether they like it or not. You don't need to go down to 20 Hz to create a good mix. JBL 4310/11/12 made lots of rock 'n roll hits back in the day and they didn't go anywhere below 40 Hz or so. You are listening with your eyes. Listen first then judge. Specifications mean nothing in the dishonest marketing world we live in. And of course your confusion about hearing 20 Hz makes you think that you need to have 250 W of power? Try 600 if you want those speakers to shake your dingle for Ya'. Oh, they blow up with that much power? Then I wouldn't buy them. My JBL's are rated at continuous 75 W RMS but they have easily lived through over 200 W at peak power. Stuff that back into your cracker Jack box.

And nobody can hear 20KHz, no matter what Rupert says...:) Spec's of any transducer - microphone or loudspeaker - are so easily fudged it's not funny. I pay no attention to the numbers when it comes to stated frequncy response of these items, I go by my ears.

I can't believe there is no one here using the monitors?, I just sold my ASP8's and those babies really sound incredible, regret selling now.

Most of us are using the standards here. Event's have rarely been mentioned in all the years I've been lurking. I've contacted RODE to see if they would let me demo them some day. Rumor, OPAL's for example are about 6 months behind. They must be in demand. You will get some answers sooner or later.

audiokid what are you using?, I want to stay in the 8" range. That would be great if they let you test drive the Opals, or even the new 20/20s

My room is treated well with RealTraps, prosoundfoam and Sonex. I use Dynaudio BM6A mosfets and Neumann http://www.kh120.Ne… KH120 and love them. My next set will be larger. I monitor everything through the SPL 2381 MTC.

I heard great things on the BM6A, especially with a sub, if you really wanted a sub I guess?, that would be in my price range for sure.

I love the BM6A but I use the KH120 more now. They aren't as loud but they are more accurate.

Those Kh120s are looking sweeter, and sounding sweeter. I'm going to pull the trigger here pretty quick on those babies.

They are the icing on the cake for my desk. Mine are currently sitting on filled paint cans. The stand are adjustable which would be idea. Get them just right. Check them out on the KH120 website.

There are level settings on the back that need tweaking. Don't forget about all that. I was able to calibrate them very well. They match my Dynaudio's great but sound better, more accurate to my ears.

Did you demo them?

10-4 audiokid, Will chime in asap when I get them. I might even let go of my NS10's. I just don't hear detail on them, which is important when editing, well at least to my ears.
I plan on demo-ing them in a couple of weeks at guitar center.
