Just to preface this post, I'm a self-taught recordist of about 7 or 8 months, so I only know what I can learn from the internet (hence my presence on a forum lol). Also, I tried my best to find the answer to my question in other threads before posting this one, but I didn't see it, so if it's out there in this forum, I apologize for taking up space with a repeat.
I just got Amplitube 2, and I run through Cubase LE4 on a laptop with Vista. I also use EZ Drummer as a vst instrument, and I have no problems getting that to open, since I got Asio4All. However, despite the fact that Asio4all is the suggested driver for Amplitube, I can't figure out how to get it to recognize my guitar. My guitar just sounds clean the whole time, and it won't do anything to anything I record.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Click on that and it will open up the effects box with the EQ in the middle and on the left side you will see multiple "Send" boxes. On the right is the "Returns"
Click in one and you should get a menu of things you can send your guitar input to.
Amplitude should be one of the choices.
Just select it and the Amplitude stuff should pop up!
If not then Amplitude may not be installed properly and Cubase isn't recognizing it's .dll file.
I followed that, and got it to work as a Send after having recorded (thank you for that), but I can't get it to register my guitar while playing. I just got the demo of Revalver, hoping it would be more user friendly, and I'm having the same problem there. It works after I've recorded the guitar, but while recording it just sounds clean. From what I've heard, these are supposed to work as you play, hence the standalone option, but I'm not getting it to work. ASIO is set to use the Audiobox USB as its input and output, but it's still clean when I play until I go and edit in the amp later.

i tried amplitube 2 and had the same problem. could not figure it out so i went to guitar rig 3 and could not be happier.
i use fruity loops and a firepod. with GR3, i can run the standalone and fruity loops at the same time. but the awesome thing is that the sound guitar rig is making in the standalone will not be recorded unless you have guitar rig loaded as an effect in the record channel on fruity loops. so what happens is i get to listen to the processed signal, while recording a totally dry signal. then i can just apply guitar rig to that channel afterwards and i can change it to any effect i want. it's incredible.
but anyways, the programs aren't meant to record the processed signal. you'll have to figure out a way to ghetto rig it. guitar rig and amplitube are made to either be used as a standalone, OR an EFFECT. much like how you would apply reverb. but you cannot record the processed signal from the standalone without some strange way of hooking things up.
but go to guitar rig, it's better ;)

Are you sure you have the "monitor" button selected during record...you need both the record button and the monitor button (little orange colored speaker next to record) to listen to your play while your recording.
Also you need to make sure the input and output channels in Amplitude are set correctly to playback in Cubase LE...
I would read over your manuals and understand how plugins are used....once you understand the signal chain it will be easy....
Basically....its guitar into an input channel...output of that channel into a plugin's input (Send)....output of the plugin back into the channel (Return).... and then finally channel output to a master mix or group bus.
Go through each part of that and check it as you go....

what sarNz said!
I tried the Amplitude and have Guitar Rig 3 which is waaay better IMHO
a friend has GR4 with the pedal.
After he tried out my GR 3 he went out and bought the whole GR4 package and loves it..
I agree with what sarNz said about being an effect too, but you should still be able to monitor and record the original and hear your effect!
I do it all the time.
I have a guitar on say Input 1 in Cubase, Record and Monitor buttons on and I see meter movement and set the levels, I click "e"....click on a Send box, select GR3 which then opens a new GR3 window, I pick a sound/effect in GR3....my GR3 audio outputs are preset to Master L/R and done!
There is an Insert Bypass button on the channel track so make sure that is on now and lit up blue!
That should be the exact same steps for Amplitude!
Maybe attach an image (print screen) of your channel setup and maybe we can see something that's set wrong...

I have to ask, how are you getting your guitar into the computer in the first place. This is all legal software right. I'm guessing that since you have Cubase LE, you must have some sort of interface. In which case you should be using the ASIO driver for that interface. Make sure that Cubase is using the correct driver. Make sure that you are using Amplitube as an insert.
Winners don't use Crack.

Sorry for the delay in response time, the holidays kind of sucked up all of my spare time, between work and all of the shit that goes along with christmas lol.
Anyway, I'd like to thank each of you guys for the incredible amount of help you've offered, and the fact that you didn't just spout off generic responses, like some other forums I've seen. Some people just reply to problems and questions by just copying and pasting stuff from the troubleshooting section of the manual, and I appreciate that you've all taken the time to help out a fellow home-recordist (although I don't think I can quite consider myself a legitimate recordist lol)
Anyway, long story short, it turned out that it was just that fuckin monitor button. Since I've always miked the amps, I never noticed the difference between having that clicked or not.
And yes, my stuff is legit. =O)
Thanks again, it's immensely appreciated. I think that now that this is solved I'm more excited than I was on christmas lol.
Happy New Year to you all, and thanks again.
