George was great. I also loved that on the final album they did, that he wrote two of the most timeless of the songs on it. ;)

All things must pass - Beware of the Darkness - defenetly the best song he ever wrote in my opnion.......I'm a huge Beatles fan and love their music to death althoug a lot of it is before my time.(I'm from 1965). Also visited a concert of Paul McCartney last summer and was blown away. Those Fab 4 where/are real masters of their skill.

The story is that beware of the darkness was written by George around the time Abbey Road was recorded, but Lennon/McCartney didn't want the song on that album. I have never understood that! George was a silent genius, ahead of his time.

Good to hear Robin, thanks for the words. Lennon/McCartney, also geniuses, but also ego-maniacs we can imagine which is probably why they 'couldn't find room' for some of George's brilliance on the albums. My bro and his wife saw McCartney a few years ago, and also were blown away from not only the sounds, but the thought of it all. Imagine the history going into the fact of being able to be called a legend? What does that even mean?
Being a fan of great music, I'm of course a fan of the Beatles, but not like others who roam this planet. One of these days I'd like to delve a bit deeper into their catalog and find even more great music that I haven't yet heard. Can anyone recommend some insanely obscure and great Beatles, or individual band members tracks?

One of my top ten faves of all time from The Fabs is And Your Bird Can Sing, but that's not really obscure.

These guys below in the band 1964, are friends of mine... in fact, the guy who plays George, Tom Work, played on Terry Fairfax's album last fall. This is probably the best cover of this song I've ever heard:

George was certainly quite underrated in the final years of The Beatles, but I suppose even the best of us would have been, working next to Paul and John. ATMP is one of my favorite ex-Beatle albums. I also have most of George's solo recordings and there are a some gems on most of them. His last one, Brainwashed, is one of his best.

The bootleg Let It Be audio outtakes have a version of George demoing the song All Things Must Pass for the others, with everyone playing/singing along. I don't remember if Beware of Darkness is also there, I'd have to listen again to see if I can find it. These same bootlegs also have Paul's Teddy Boy and (I believe) John's Child Of Nature (Jealous Guy).

Interesting bootleg, you are talking about. I have some bootlegs, but not that one.....
