I have had the been very unfortunate to get all of my software up and running only to have the whole system buggered by a dumb ass virus called w32.jeefo. .now i am toying with the idea of re formatting my PC and starting all over again. this sucks seriosuly.
By the way. if anyone knows how to get rid of this dumb virus please let me know i have not re formatted yet.
Peace.

I formatted the computer before i installed pro tools and all of my software. I made sure that i did that first so as to negate any conflicts that my old software would have with my new software.
My original post did not mentioned that i have a network set up at home so the virus probably came from there.

You most certainly don't need 2 systems.
If you want your PC to function like a DAW and a Internet PC you should have 2 seperate HDD's for each. I HDD (with Windows) for your sequencer, samples ect ect. and another HDD (with Windows) for your everyday use stuff like Office and Internet ect ect. You swap HDD's using a caddy system. Virtually like having 2 PC's, one optimised for Audio recording without Firewall and AV software and any unused hardware disabled including your modem, and your other HDD with all the necessary Internet/security software. Install a 3rd drive inside your ATX case exclusively for recording your audio data to.
Have a look here :D

first of all pro tools systems are some of the most solid out there ,but i would never put pro tool on a computer without starting fresh, also did you read the specs at digidesign before buying the pro tool system cause most and i say that very seriously most computers wont work with pro tools. You basically have to build your pc around pro tools including the firewire card this is cause pro tool has always been based in mac and they dont have all the experience with pcs. if you go with recommended components on your pc and start fresh and follow a pc optimization guide you shouldn't have any problems with your new system.
