Anybody know anything about Mitec Consoles? I've heard various reviews and comparisons, not sure what to think. I know they are German, their website is not so informative.
Opinionsor insights would be greatly appreciated.

I've never used a Mitec.
I've never had a rider call for one, either.
Anyone else on here know anything about these boards?
I thought they looked like Phonics, but MSRP @ $17K?
Are they some sort of local European phenom?

Well,
Besides the local Mitec Dealer here in Toronto, nobody really knows much about these desks. The dealer tells me they are neutral, clean console, not cheaply made at all.
Others have told me that it's a so cheap due to the size of it, and most people are downsizing these days, and don't want a big analog desk.
I'm a bit torn here, but I think I'm going to buy it, try it out for 30 days, and if I don't like it return it.
I'll let you all know how it all turns out, and if the desk is any good.

Hi,
Is this the one at Long & McQuade's? Looks like a nice board--way more features than a Mackie 8 bus. Mitec seem to have an active website

They seem to advertise this more as a live board than a recording console, although it is an inline console (direct outs on input channels). I'd be curious to hear the pre's --Jeff Long was saying he though he'd heard it sounded more like a Soundcraft than a Mackie--ie a bit less pristine, but more personality, which is probably not too bad a thing. It's made in Germany, which I imagine might be a good thing. I was on the fence about buying this myself, but it's just too big for my space--that as well as being an unknown quantity. I'm in the market for a new console, but I'm thinking more along the lines of the new Toft 8 buses, or an older Trident.
Teletech are listed as the Canadian distributor on the Mitec website--on the Teletech website they have one of these currently listed about $14K, so this could be a total steal, but a lot of their gear is waay overpriced, so who knows if anyone would buy one of these for anything approaching that price. It might be worth contacting Mitec and Teletech to make sure that Mitec are still up and running--finding parts might be really hard if they've just gone under or something like that. If you go for it I hope you have a large control room! Good luck.

That's the one,
I put some cash down today, and will be picking it up next week.
My control room should accomodate the size of this desk.
I'll let you know how it sounds.
I'm not counting on it being the quality of an Amek, or Neve, etc.. but for the price, as long as everything works, I think it'll be alright. The routing alone will help me quite a bit.
Thanks for the input!!

I picked up the Console today, and just did a quick install.
The meter bridge had been removed, so I re installed it. It gets power, but the Master VU's are not working... likely a miss patched ribbon cable or something.
All the Aux sends and bus sends seem to be working as well as the inputs.
I have not checked the phantom yet, or the mic Pre's.
It reminds me a lot of a Soundcraft or a DDA.

Nobody here has used one of these desks before?
I can get one really cheap, and want to make sure it's worth buying.
Please, any input would be helpful.
Thanks
