I was going to release some music and was going to use the name BiPolar Express, because my stuff is a varied mix. I locked down the domain name and copyright for myself, but some people are saying it is maybe insulting to people. I am not a punk band, am mainstream so don't want to upset potential listeners/customers. What do you think? Is the name insensitive?

It certainly could be taken that way....it's all about being politically correct these days.
If people feel the term "bipolar" is used in the context of that physcological condition, then they may either be offended or think you or your band suffer from the condition.

The term bipolar has other meanings in the electronics world as in bipolar transistors or bipolar antenna patterns, but that is more of a technical term and I'm pretty sure most average people would go with the more popular use as in the mental condition...

You could use tripolar, quadpolar or multipolar?
Bipolar is only two variations and if your music is multi faceted maybe something more accurate would be better..

I don't see that bipolar should insult anybody? It's a fact of life, a state of being an issue a lot of us live with. Well I do and I don't. I like it a lot. But it gets me really angry. Don't you want to make money with this?! It's okay, most musicians are poor.

I prefer " By-Polar " or how about " Buy-Polar "? Otherwise, why don't you get off my back?! I'd prefer my front instead.

The train wreck starts here.

First I didn't see anything wrong the name when I first read it.

Second, I'd suggest you not jump into this game trying to please everybody. If you like it. I say go for it. That's what matters. Worry more about creating a good music and a great brand. Follow your first thought and forget about what other people might think.

For whatever it's worth, I'd also say go for it (or maybe you have already). It's a memorable name, and kinda funny, so why not? I've known a few bipolar people and they all seemed to have a sense of humor about it, I doubt it would offend too many people. Of course, any name with any flavor at all will likely offend *somebody*, so just expect some flack beforehand and don't let those killjoys talk you our of it once you've made up your mind. Good luck!

So you are the BIPOLAR band featuring the talents of the BINAURAL's! So come on down and sit on your rears while using your ears. And you can't get much better than that while you could but maybe not I don't know but I really do.

Hope to see you there or maybe not? I think I might but probably can't?
