Ok, on the Dave Matthews at Radio City music hall DVD, what mic is he using. Here is a good youtube video.

My bud has very similar vocals and I'm beefing up my mic cabinet, so time to see what Dave is using.

To me it does not look like a KMS104. Maybe it is , but with a different head grill.

I think you guys have it... Although in terms of the scale of the head, it looks like it could be the 935. Either way, I'd say one of the two is what it actually looks like.

So you want a small capsule back electret condenser microphone that doesn't have enough pop proofing?? Doesn't appear to be a Shure, Electro-Voice, AUDIX, which leaves few others. Either way, it's a small capsule condenser microphone not a dynamic, IMHO as that's the way it sounds. Just make sure it has a switchable pad & a low-cut would be a good additional quality as well. That's all you need to know. It's a condenser microphone of a small capsule design. And it does not appear to be a Neumann KMS104/105 either.
Popping microphones. My favorites. Just shut up and sing.
