I always hear/see bands saying "Now available on iTunes!". how do I become able to sell my music on iTunes, and where? How much does this cost? Is it worth it? Fill me in on the basics!

thanks.

it appears tunecore is more about digital sales, and cdbaby does that as well but also hard copy sales, correct?

i think for this particular cd i just finished, since its just 6 tracks, and im selling for only $6, i think my best bet would be to target digital sales only. in which case i should go with tunecore.

any input?

I've never heard of Tunecore, but I think everybody in the business and plenty out of the business know CDBaby. I'd probably go with CDBaby. The staff is helpful, there's no fee (though CDBaby takes 4$ of hard copy sales, that won't hurt you as you don't plan on selling hard copies) and you'll likely have more people stumbling upon it.

My friend used tuneCORE for his CD and it has worked out well. It's pretty simple -- read the information on their home page and you will get a good idea how it works and what it costs.

Make sure you are delivering the final album -- mixed, mastered and sequenced songs with cover art and band/artist information. It's hard or impossible to change anything once it's been "published."
