When professional studios use drum machines they sound very up-close clear and punchy. I own Superior Drums II, i love the sounds but sometimes when i mix a song..they dont sound as crisp. (am i making sense?) Is it all in the mixing? Or do pro studios run them through equipment?

Anytime I have ever mixed a drum sequence hardware or software based it has always been broken down into multiple tracks so I just treated it like a standard drum kit mix session using parallel compression and other techniques one might use to mix a drum kit.
