Hey all,
Im fairly new to Logic Pro, and I've been trying to import a song that I have on my hard drive into Logic so I can edit it.
My band has been covering Pink Floyd's "Time" but with out the intro. We want to do the intro so I'm trying to make a sample of the clocks and then do a loop of the clock ticking and heart beat so we can play the music and roto tom solo over top of it.
Anywho, I imported the .M4A copy I have that I made from my CD into Logic and it doesn't produce any sound, but I get sound when I play any other track.
Help?

Logic probably doesn't understand that file format? It would have to be converted or, you might be able to do it in the analog sense? So basically, you would use the program that does play that file which I believe is i-tunes and play it out your sound card. Your sound card is a duplex device which allows you to record while playing, simultaneously. You would feed the output of your sound card back into its input. You would tell Logic to record the line level input of your sound card to its native file format. Sure, it's down a digital generation from decoding to reencoding but that's not going to kill you unless you don't have your volumes adjusted right. Sometimes that's the only way to convert from certain file formats that are not supported fully. Will you be able to hear this when you do this? Probably not. Could this cause feedback in an uncontrolled way? Sure if you don't have your internal mixer set up properly. You only want the sound card to record the external line inputs. You don't want it to record the line inputs along with the playback track. This actually works better in audio than it does in video.
Try that
