Has anyone else heard of this drummer?
He's played with everyone from Coltrane, Monk, to Chick Corea (early Chick Corea, you know "Now He sings, Now He sobs).

Anyway, I just had to say he's influenced me more than any other drummer. And to this point I ask, what drummer's have influenced you guys the most?

Sorry for the rant but I just heard a track from his new album and he sounds better at age 60+ than he did in his 20's.

I only hope I can play when I'm his age.

One of the all time greats for sure! We're proud here in Boston to claim him as one of our own.

So MANY great jazz drummers - if I had to pick just a few, (from varying styles) I'd go with Philly Joe Jones, Mickey Roker, Sunny Murray, and Ed Blackwell.

I'm intentionally avoiding the more obvious names like Papa Jo, Roach, Blakey, Elvin - not to belittle their contributions, but just to consider some different options.

Man I completley forgot about Ed Blackwell, I'll have to pull out some of my old Don Cherry records. And man Mickey Roker, shit who did he not play with? And along with Blackwell, Sunny Murray was is one hell free drummer.

Oh don't forget Tony Williams in the no need to mention this guy 'cause everyone knows who he is.

Here are some other cats I wanted to add to the list:
Chico Hamilton, Ed Thigpen, Billy Cobham, Rashied Ali, "Big " Sid Cattlet ...........

this list is just gooing to grow and grow and gro......
