Squealies are indeed dumb when you base your entire playing style on them. ahem Dime and Wylde. Still legends in their own right, but seriously, it does get old.

I'm not big on the metal squealies, but pinch harmonics can be made to sound many different ways. You need obnoxiously high gain to do heavy metal squealies like the guy in that video did, but you can get much mellower pinch harmonics with lower gain. I will mix in pinch harmonics with regular notes quite often. But Bigtee, can you do pinch harmonics? You can get them even when playing at low gain if you have good technique. 8)

And Boss... I'm on a crusade against all things Roland. Their stuff is so digital sounding it's embarrassing. :roll: And Boss pedals... pardon me while I go throw up in a corner. :D

I have been doing pinch's since ARS ( Atlantic Rhythm Section) "I'm So Into You" came out in the 70's. I do them for effect on occasion but when I saw that Namm clip I posted and then heard Pantera's grueling track yesterday on the radio... barf... I'm thinking, another effect gone too far. Its like the Cher autotune thing that's happening, but with guitar effects now.
Please, I hope we aren't going to start hearing this boss crap on the radio now. Overkill.

David Gilmour, I think, uses pinch harmonics beautifully. None better. Well, none better that I know with my limited musical knowledge.
