Well...and now the question.
My band and I want to record a demo using a FIREPOD. We are a drummer, a bass player, and a guitar/singer. Just three guys. We want to mic the drum set with six mics and use the two remaining tracks of the FIREPOD to record the bass and the guitar (all playing at the same time).
After recording the music we want to record the voice and some guitar solos. I mean...can we use the 8 tracks of the FIREPOD and then can we create two or three tracks more for the voice and solos in Cubase and record this tracks also using the FIREPOD? I mean 8 tracks in the first go (drums, bass, guitar) and them 2 o 3 more in the same song (voice and solos). I dont now if I am making myself clear...please let me know if not.

the firepod can record UP TO 8 xlr inputs in one shot, meaning that you don't have to use all of them at the same time if you don't want to. as long as your DAW lets you record 8 at a time, you're good to go. Just remember that cubase le, which comes with the firepod, only allows you to record 2 tracks at once.
in all, the firepod can do 10 inputs, if you include the midi input and the s/pdif input in the back.

really??? almost everyone that i've talked to says it only allows 2 at once. i think even the manual says that it only allows it too. but you're not the only one i've heard say that; one buddy of mine said he could do all 8 at once. is there something different between your version and mine?

The Firepod is an amazing tool to use and I think you will be quite happy with it. It is definitely of much higher caliber than the MOTU 8Pre.

Yes, you can have a total of 32 tracks (or somewhere around that
Yes, you can have a total of 32 tracks (or somewhere around that number). So you can record with all 8 inputs, then add more tracks after. As far as recording with all 8 inputs on Cubase LE, I just got my firepod last week, and it works for recording with all inputs. You just have to activate each input in the "device" category.
