Can anyone tell me if they have had any luck with using IK Multimedia AmpliTube Fender? Right now sweetwater is offering a 3 for 1 deal. Just wondering if anyone has had any feedback...be it good/bad.

I downloaded the trial version good for 10 days IIRC. It does sound like a Fender but I guess I'm just not ready for amp sims, the pedals we were using sounded bad, even though they sound good through my real Fender, I found trimming out the gain to somewhat less than desirable. That might have been my lack of experience. I used the trial version while recording drum tracks as a way to bring the guitarist a sound that he was used to while taking him direct and he had no problem with it, it did a reasonable job of the vibrato/reverb sound. We just retracked the tracks with his Fender and you CAN tell the difference. So I guess it all has to do with exactly what you are looking for but as a guitarist I'm definitely not ready to give up my amps.

Thanks JG49...I know that nothing could ever replace miking a cab which is something I prefer doing over the amp sim but am looking for several alternatives to color my sound a bit. I'd like to experiment with miking the cab with say a sm57, and perhaps some condensor mic for the room as well as splitting the signal to go direct and applying that Amplitube plugin on that guitar signal. It's always nice to have a few options. Especially for routing signals to headphones etc.

I used to have a Line6 Pod XT and then I bought a few mics and started miking up the cab. I then A/B'ed the signal - HUGE unmistakable difference between the two. The miked sound sounded so sweet and full of life while the sound I got from the line 6 seemed to sound very muddy in comparison. Dont get me wrong there are some settings on the Line6 I absolutely love. I digress...

The IK Multimedia Fender simply kicks ass. Much better that I have experienced from any other DSP, modeling or simulation software or hardware. No, it is not going to be exactly the same as any real Fender amp, but best there is at this time.

If you love of just like the sound of Fender, it is must have. The Amgeg SVT is also great and a must have, but they really did justice to Fender amps.

I got the software last night and loaded it up on the machine. Man, what a sound. very happy with this. IK multimedia definityely has their sh-t together. If you are looking for a decent amp sim this is it. Definitely worth the investment.

I also downloaded jimi hendrix amplitube and ampeg SVX and Sample Tank. Didnt really mess around with Sampletank last night. I was having too much fun checking out all the presets.
