I'm willing to spend $500 on some active monitors and I have come to like these two. Which would you choose and why? Also, anything else I should look at / listen to in this price range? I like the 8" woofer on the BX8s, but I think the Yamahas are probably the better monitor.

I have a pair of MSP5s but to be honest I find them a little harsh at times. The BX8s do have a much better low end (obviously) but having said that I do like the clarity of the Yamahas

Watch out for the tweets in the bx8's I believe they're the same as the bx5 tweets which I used to own and they were really tinny and brittle and have a tendency to blow, although I never blew mine. I just never liked the sounds from the bx5's. Bought the Event 20/20 bas v2's and like them much much more.
