I have a small home studio just learning the recording end. I play guitar and sing but limited in this area, mostly record acoustic and/or classic rock. I have the following equipment and was wondering what to buy next.

Mac Pro Quad running Pro Tools LE
Digi 002 rack
Mackie 824 Monitors
AT 4050 Mic
Shure SM57 Mic
Two Samson C02 Condenser Mics

Would be curious of what others think I should get next. Someone mentioned to me a mic preamp amp, I'm limited on my knowledge of equipment. What benefits would I get from a mic preamp amp, what else should I get?
Thanks!

Listen to your favorite CD and find out what preamp they used and buy it or a reasonable facsimile. You need a preamp....

I guess the rest of your processors are in the software.

I really feel that you need a good pre to get the best sound going in. Don't skimp on the money if you don't have to. Get a stereo one if you are not going to use a board.

Looks like you have enough stuff to get you going to start off with. You should use what you have till you come up against its shortcomings. Then once you reach that point you will pretty much know what you need to get. That being said if you feel you have to buy something post how much you are wanting to spend.
