Another rocker off the new album ... any/all comments warmly appreciated!

Sounds cool, but when you double track your guitars (I'm assuming you did this for width), you have to repeat the exact performance for both takes, otherwise, there is a push and pull of the cadence that becomes distracting. Also, I'm not a fan of the slap-back echo settings - too wet.
Fun song, but you need too adhere to a metronome on this one to get it tight. My favorite element of this song are the vocals - almost "Bowie-like"

Edit - Actually, gave it another listen, and now I'm not sure if you doubled the Rhythm guitars - could be the slap-back

Love it. A choice "Men At Work" type clean guitar lick going on too. Oh ya, lots of 80's flavours going on here, and well done at that! I'm still missing low mid body in the mix though which is consistent to your sound. So, that's an easy tweak for the Mastering if it's ever needed. I don't mind the slap in this. however, the guitar(s) effect doesn't mono too well but, it sounds great on the sides.
It suits the style. David Bowie vox sound indeed.

Nice one Kevin.

I think it sounds pretty groovy. Though I don't care much for your snare drum sound. Too Rikki Tiki and thin. No bite. It sounds gay LOL.

The vocals are detracted from due to the excessive sibilance. He could really use a DE-ESSER, badly. Please. David Bowie sure... now get rid of his Lisp. Unless you want to look like David Bowie? Then you're going to need a toupee. Maybe a dress and some makeup? I've got just the dress for ya.

So what we heard ain't about what we are going to get? Post Mastering Engineer? Well... how about not mastering it yourself and just letting us hear your basic mix that you're going to send to the Mastering Engineer? I would much rather hear that than your own feeble attempts at Mastering it yourself. Maybe I would like it better? It ain't bad but, it ain't all that.

I'm just saying...

Remy, I generally appreciate and learn from your input on vintage gear but usually find your musical critiques the opposite.
Your inappropriate descriptions and often bazaar humor leaves a lot to be desired in these critiques. I feel compelled to apologize to those that might be offended.

Kevin, the snare is perfect enough. The "overall: lower mids in the track and possibly a bit too much top end (which would be offset with low mid energy) is what I would address before changing individual instruments like that now.. Remy's suggestions on the snare would throw the entire mix out the window. I'm pretty sure we might discover how this can be improved via mastering.
Its clearly all balanced but suffering from the same warmth throughout the entire track. Which, tells me its done well. Now, it needs another set of ears.
If we had any Mastering engineers with balls here, now would be the time to generate some business from the lurkers?
Just to prove a point, I may put it through my rig and add an MEQ-5 to it. It would be interesting no matter which way this goes now.

Yes. Once I've got the collection assembled, I send it off to be professionally mastered. I'll post a tune from my last release for contrast. I think I do have the highs boosted too much.

I'm much bigger than Bowie ... so the dress should be sized accordingly ... :)

So whatever happened to the expression "glitter and be Gay"? We can't use an abbreviation? The snare drum was too swishy sounding. There, was that better?

I would hate to let the dress out if you weren't in. But then I'm a seamstress who can't mend straight. I don't think I can do anything straight? I just want to glitter and be Gay.

Maybe it needs some good funk?
