Other updates: added two new spectrum update speed options that allow you to have an even faster spectrum display response; bar graph spectrum display modes implemented which transform GlissEQ into 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, etc. octave spectrum analyzer.
Thank checked out GlissEQ I see what you mean they split into octaves, its cool but not exactly a good metering tool it only splits into 8 octaves . Where I am talking about more accurate 1/3 of an octave sometimes splitting into 31 or more bands. Span is just an FFT analyzer once again not the same. They do look cool thought:). So far I found Izotope Insight come close, but originally I used Roger Nichols (who was one of my favorite engineer) Inspector XL and that is phenomenal plugin. But since Roger passed away (RIP) there is no more support or updating. Will keep looking I guess. There is got to be something out there.

Since 1996, I started using Cool Edit 96. It has quite a comprehensive spectrum analysis display and stereo phase display. Carried on up and through Adobe Audition where it gets even more versatile. Where not only do you have a waveform display, you can also have spectral display and spectral editing. And that started off as shareware. And I rather like it's display ballistics which are not variable.
Now, what do you suppose this will do for you? I can tell you it's not much help as a mixing tool. And you don't necessarily want to see a flat response in music. Because music is not a test signal. It's music. Seeing an averaged flat response is frequently indicative of spectral processing. Dynamic spectral processing is sort of like automatic mixing equalization under dynamic control. And your mixes will generally not reflect the same type of spectral display than a finely Mastered production does. Don't even try to make it look like that because it will just sound bad. So while a real-time spectral display can be helpful to spot problems, it's not an indicator of good versus evil.
Logarithmic or linear display?

Thank you Remy Ann David this is very insightful I want to wish you happy thanksgiving. I got used to Inspector XL by Roger Nichols, So if you do come across a plugin that I can use in Pro Tools 1/3 octave 31 bar type analyzer don't hesitate to let me know about it, even if you think its unnecessary. I know how you feel. . Thank you so much for your input

Thanks so much for your suggestions, I am willing to try anything. looks like Manalyzer does not support bar based graph. Bismark only for mobile, which is no help but very interesting:). VertexDSP wrote them waiting for an answer same with Nu Gen
Happy Thanksgiving

All my old Elemental Audio / RND plugs, including Inspector XL seem to work on PT 10. Agree, wholeheartedly with Remy's earlier post - the spectrum analyzer tool is a great way to spot some problems (I had a viola awash in a really, really cheapo reverb unit that put out a constant tone that was a cinch to find on the spectragram/FFT display which I cured with a simple notch filter). K-System metering is great, etc.
Wow - I haven't posted here in a LONG time...
