ISDN service appears to be in a terminal state, so. .which VOIP studio-to-studio software do you use for sessions? I've got my plan B & C in place, but I am still undecided on my plan-A VOIP solution.

If you answered other for either hardware and/or software, please tell me/us what you use.

I've selected my Internet solution, I'll need an alternate path for my sessions because summer time construction here in Montana takes out our Internet two or three times a year, often for several days. So I've included my Plan B & C backup strategies in case your are considering something like this too.

*** Plan-B (wishful Plan-B) is a satellite uplink (384kbps) that you can use on a retainer basis (read affordable insurance) for VOIP phone patch sessions (http://www.skycasters.com/index.html)

*** Plan-C is a telephone line solution from JK Audio (http://www.jkaudio.com/broadcast-host.htm) that is similar to the phone patch studio I built in 1982.

Either of these solutions could get your session back on line in minutes if your main Internet connection goes down...although Plan-C isn't likely to win rave reviews compared to Plan-B.

Audio over a phone line patch in NOT broadcast quality no matter what the companies try and tell you. Frequency response problems and distortion will give you less than acceptable results.

Satellite too is dicey. I have a fiend who has a satellite sitting in her back yard and she uses it to access the internet. It is from the Hughes network and the best she can do is about 33 K even though her services is suppose to be somewhere around 700 K. If the weather is really bad (cloudy stormy overcast) then her speed drops even lower. She is paying about $78.00 a month and NOT getting what she is paying for. If she calls tech support Hughes does not send anyone out and instead relies on local contractors and it costs her about $200 every time she has a trouble call out. Not a good solution.

Not sure what is the best solution for you but I just wanted to let you know neither of these works the way they are suppose to work.

Best of luck in finding a solution.
