I think you might be confusing CD-TEXT with the Gracenote (CDDB) and FreeDB databases...

Get a copy of Audiograbber (it's freeware now) and see if your CD-TEXT info is embedded. It probably is.

However, most computer players (WinAMP, Windows Media Player, etc.) don't read CD-TEXT info - They read from the CDDB and FreeDB databases. Someone has to submit the info to the CDDB in the proper format. Anywhere from days to months later, WinAMP, WMP, etc. will read the info from the database when the disc is insterted.

Wow Very imformative info there. Yes I have always made CDs with CD text and Try to Play them back in iTunes and WMP to see if the Text appears on the Disk and it never does. Gonna download audio Grabber and give that a shot.

In itunes, you can enter the information for each song and then under the Advanced menu, select submitt CD track names and the info will be uploaded to the CDDB.

I always thought if you Burn a CD with CD Text in Toast and then pop the CD in a computer with iTunes or WMP that the track names would appear like they do on major release CDs.

So from what was said here is that the track titles need to be read from CDDB and FreeDB databases. Are these internet Databases or Databases stored in the Application reading the CD?

How does your car CD player display the titles on the CD in the car if it needs to pull titles from CDDB and FreeDB databases?

The Text CD feature in toast takes care of the Car/Home Stereo CD Text readers, the CDDB takes car of the computer readers.

It's kind of labor-intensive, but you have to set up Toast to write the CD Text, then put the written disc in a computer with iTunes/some other program, type all the names in again, THEN submit that to the CDDB.

There may be some other way to do it, but that's the only way I know - and it works for me.

In Sequoia you can do this with ease. You can enter text per song, or just Title/Artist info for the CD,etc..

Same problems here.
I was writing some ISRCS stuff at some clients masterswith Nero Pro 6.
As I select Nero´s player he does read the names, artist, etc.

However, music match juke box does not read it and neither windows media player. I tested some commercial albums and they always appear as unknows artist at wmp, but Music Match premiteed the readouts.

When you try to burn a Cd at Nero it opens a database window to ckeck if the album is registered on the web.

My main concern is .. will in any situation this CD text info not be able to be read at the repliacation stage?

I used to do stuff with Masterlist 2.1 and a glyph Scsi burner. Never had a problem with them, but my scsi brner is dying.

I have heard that CD Architect and Nero 6 would do fine. Any other suggetsions?where do i pick this audiograbber?

BTW...OS 9.2 here ( toast + jam does ISRC stuff under 10.x)

As long as the info is embedded in the TOC, it should be fine.

I always indicate on the disc whether it contains CD-TEXT info or not so the replicator is aware of it, even if it doesn't make a difference.

I've been trying to make it a point to submit the info to Gracenote and FreeDB before I send the finals out to the client - That way, it *might* show up in the databases by the time he gets it - Certainly by the time the finished product comes in.

Nero 6 always opens a dialog box searching for databases.
Funny or not, at Nero 5 (urgh), sometimes I found wrong names for songs: once I was mastering an independet artist and itsaid it was Julio Iglesias songs! Completly nuts!lol

CD Text in NERO works fine for me. I don't own a player that reads text (and don't worry about it showing up on my PC screen) - but I've had clients with players that read text and have reported their surprise when (in one case) the WRONG song title appeared on the screen (My mistake, of course).

I always like to put "Mike Fossenkemper Rules" as all the song titles. Just kidding.
