and when I put my head down in the middle I was amazed. All the noise and electrical hum that was issuing from refrigerators, ac's and my theory that the breaker even makes noise, went away almost completely. I couldn't believe it, so I tested it out with my RODE K2... all those wasted dollars on cubicle walls and 1" thick eggcrate studio foam! WHY?? I just wish I knew where he got this one so I can go get a few more.

Long story short, if you ever find a nice little mattress that uses an eggcrate on the top (which by the way is not really visible because theres a zippered sheet around the mattress, not sure if that helps or hurts the sound, but I like it just fine with it so I'm not gonna take it off)... GET IT! I lego'd up some pvc pipe to keep it bowed and also elevate it when I need it.

Those mattresses are available at most home medical healthcare stores. It is designed for people that have to spend their lives horizontally and audio engineers that just got out of bed. Good low-cost almost replacement for Auralex, Sonex, etc.. Not fire rated stuff but then you shouldn't be smoking in bed.

Ahem....there's a reason it would be free....they couldn't, in good conscience, let even a coma victim lay on it anymore. Too many drained colostomy bags and catheter tubes to put back in service...
