FIREPOD vs. . M-AUDIO

I was prepared to purchase the Firepod, when an employee at SamAsh tried to talk me into the M-Audio.

If anyone has had experience with either interface, are the M-Audio preamps significantly better than the Firepod?

On almost every Firepod review I've heard something about deficiencies with the preamps. If anyone has a firepod, could you please elaborate if you share this same opinion?

And one last important note: Does anybody know about the support on a machine running 64-bit Windows Vista?

Thanks in advance to anyone who responds to this.

I don't think that that preamp connects to a computer by itself (unless you have ADAT lightpipe on a soundcard).. so you would have to get this also (or something like it)....

...to hook it up to your computer... so that's $600 for the Octane and another $500 for the firewire 1814... so $1100 total.... compared to the $500 dollars for the Firepod...

As far as the quality of the m-audio preamps... I have no idea...

IMHO

Hi Z_o-S-o;

In MHO I would loose the vista before I got to much setup done, my personal opinion that is. Its way to heavy.

I use xp pro 64 bit Edition and the supports not bad and getting better.

I cant tell you first hand with either of those but my experience with m-audio drivers and support has not been easy.

Read more reviews and buy a xp pro 64-E disk and you will be happier in the end.

BTW I'm going to get the firepod
