I have been reading a lot about Sonar, I even downloaded the trial version, but that doesn't tell me what I want to know.
My main question is how do you back up a complete project, say you want to save your masters or something. When I save a work file to disk, it doesn't save the audio.
Also if I want to write all my audio files to seperate folders for each project, is there a way to set that up spefic to the project, without having to remember to change it everytime I open a new project?
Is there a way to name each track of audio data to make it easier to find?

But most importantly, I know there has got to be a bunch of you guys out there who are pretty proud of your work, can you help me find links to find songs recorded with Sonar.

I know the bundle, now, is "the entire" composition,,,but sonar 1.01 didn't have that or I didn't use it,,,all got saved as .wrk or normal projects,,,how do I clean those after I save them as a .cwb (bundle) or whatever.

This is my prob,,,what to do with the mess I have and how to clean or purge my drive of all the "audio data" associated with the old file estentions, I guess I can deal with cakewalk,,,tho, I was hoping to get the info from the illusive Kimo,,,lol

Thanks,
for the info,,,Davy G.

Try saving all your songs as bundle files then delete all audio data and picture cache files.
Now when you open any of your songs the files you
erased will be recreated but just the ones for the bundle file that you have opened. I save only bundle file and clean out those two folders often .You should upgrade to v1.31 it's free.

Let see what we have, here are my thoughts

"My main question is how do you back up a complete project, say you want to save your masters or something. When I save a work file to disk, it doesn't save the audio."
At the end of your work day you should do a BUNDLE FILE save of the project you are working on, I save my clients work on a CDRW only, I can keep updating the files at any time and if my PC blows a fuse(haha) can just load it up on another machine. I hate downtime, don't we all.

"Also if I want to write all my audio files to seperate folders for each project, is there a way to set that up spefic to the project, without having to remember to change it everytime I open a new project?"

I would never do this one, with you being able to do a bundle file save I see no true reason to play with the devil...

"Is there a way to name each track of audio data to make it easier to find?"

I hate this part too, I hope Cakewalk find a way to do this one.

What I would like to see is TIME STAMP, so I can upload the file to my Protools, party.

Later,
Lou

Hello Sonar users. Sorry I have been extremely busy with new releases from our label lately.

I am now free to answer questions as best as possible or find the answers from my buddies at Cakewalk. Feel free to ask and I promise I will get back to you within 24 hours with an answer.

thanks for the patience and I will follow up with some topics & tips that I think are very important to working with Sonar.

My problem with BUN files has always been what to do with them once they get too big to burn to a single CDR. Some have suggested WinRAR but I hate having to depend on another tool and it also takes time to split CDR-size files up. I had hoped CW would implement a BUN file size limit feature but so far they haven't. What they have done in SONAR 2.0 is made placing audio files in per-project folders easy. Working this way has always made sense to me and I'm glad CW finally relented and gave us an alternative to their forced "one central audio folder" concept. IMHO, there's no longer any reason to to bother with BUN files. Simply store the CWS file in the project's audio folder and burn those files to however many CDRs are required.
