I'm using a sound blaster platinum 5.1 sound card.
I know, it's consumer standard but it was a start.
I deal with latency everday. ahhh. Could someone explain the whole Asio driver technology, where one can get it and what it does.
Thanks.

Audio Synchronous In and Out...Steinberg protocol developed to get better stream in and out of an audio card thru OS protocols.
The ASIO protocol is available thru Steinberg for hardware and software manufacturers to impliment into their stuff. Whether the soundblaster has ASIO drivers I am not so sure of...yes, you will get latency thru that card. Most software companies dont reccomend using a generic sound card since it's buffering capabilities cant handle it as well as a specifically designed audio card.
DirectX drivers work thru Windows multimedia and ASIO bypasses that and goes directly thru teh software to get better results.
Hope that helps explain some of it...it's rather detailed andI am not a programmer so I couldnt get too indepth..look at the Steinberg site for more detailed info on that subject
