Hi. Well guess who just bought Logic. Apparently
no more Logic for PC owners after September/ personally I think this is VERY RUDE :(

Once again musicians and engineers come second.
Shame!

Stedel - Hi, long hair no time... I think the Apple has finished rotting, so to speak. I don't use Logic (well, sometimes, but not the program) but I have gotten rather fond of Samplitude, and guess what? Samplitude, after being tossed around from foster home to foster home, went from Magix to Emagic to apparent oblivion. Last I heard, there was a page or two on Emagic's site, ending with the comment "not available yet, but soon" - Now, Magix' site has no links to driver updates, etc, Emagic's site "isn't ready yet", and now Apple is stating that as of September 2002 they will eliminate all PC apps!

Guess the catchphrase of the day is, "If ya can't BEAT em, EAT em!! Must be nice to be a rich, soulless fuck - Hey, Jobs - couldja buy Rosie O'Donnell and make her disappear too? How 'bout Hillary Clinton, BEFORE she convinces the idiots who vote here that she's NOT a murdering, thieving bitch? Oh well, kinda liked rear wheel drive cars too... Steve

Really? Which car?

Hmm I still think it's rude. The good part is that if Apple run Emagic like Ford have run Jaguar (apart from the recent act of dumping development of the new jag sports) we should get a pretty amazing system but....

Apple have worked with Microsoft, so much so that the Mac version of Windoze is better than the PC version. Why is it so hard to allow for PC users to
have a continued development with Logic? It's still Apple's product, still brings money in.

So PC users switch to Cubase (which I use) then what? Apple buys Steinberg?

Wow...Woodstock really is over isn't it?

I have considered switching to Mac over the past few years. But after this stunt they're pulling on the thousands of Logic PC users I will never buy a Mac! I'm not a Logic user - and now I guess I'll never be. Cubase SX is starting to look really good to a lot of people now. If this is the end of
Logic and Samplitude for PC - Cakewalk and Steinberg must be popin the Champagne open about now.

C'mon jeronimo. This isn't about PC owners. It's about bigger issues than that. Just because Brasil won the World Cup.....what nobody cares that Korea played good football with heart and soul that moved millions of people and gave them joy?

You think PC owners are going to be given the opportunity to protect their investment, what with some sort of "come to our platform deal". For $2.50?

Some of my friends use Logic. Some of my friends use PC's. yes I feel sorry for them, but this is something else. See the bigger picture re Multi-National Fuck-Overs. Or is this a new concept for people in South America?

Bwa-hahahahahahahaha!!! Jeronimo..you are too funny man! I don't think Stedel got that tho! :p
Stedel, he's doing it because a certain PC user got too hot and heavy about it and took it too personally that SOS and he were trashing peecee's
I know it went far beyon taking it personally but I don't want to get involved with that...
My thoughts here(you knew THAT was coming)..
I think Apple is trying all they can to gain back as much as they used to have for popularity's sake.
Remember how you never heard of someone using a PC for audio..it wasn't until around 96 or later did PC's just "start" to make some noise.
Once the P3 socket processors came out all hell started breaking loose.
Well, PC's have a very strong market right now and that makes Apple pretty vulnerable. So they are doing what they have to, to survive!
There will always be the die hard Mac fans..just to tell ya, I put a quicky system together for our director of sales and installed XP on it...he took it home and said "this PIII 450(Slot A mind you) with 128MB Ram...ran better than my G4 500 with OSX"...HA!! (ducks and covers :p )

Hmmm ... funny you brought-up Nuendo, Bro. I was thinking along the same lines.
It sucks that they're dropping the PC side, but I think this is an overall good, strong move for Apple, provided that they follow through. There is tremendous potential in creating a complete audio system from the ground, up, directly from the computer manufacturer. Can you say, "COMPATIBILITY"? I imagine it will come at a very dear price, though.
Indeed, this could very well escalate into a host-based war. With PCs' front side buses climbing rapidly, Apple is going to have a rough time getting the performance out of their systems to meet a PC's sheer power for running audio. With the advancement of computing technology, the time for host based systems to come into the limelight is just around the corner. I think that Apple has picked a very opportune time to make their move.

Do you even realize how silly this sounds? What do you care? Isn't your music more important that Computer Politics? All i've heard is what Apple has done to the PC users. Let's look at this from Emagics point of view. They pay their programmers handsomely to create better version of Logic. And what do they get in return. Users pirating their software and making money off of their hard work. Ask yourself why PC user represented 30% of sales but 80% of Tech Support calls. What would you do with YOUR company if faced with a choice like that...leave 30 Million on the table or take it and stay alive.
