To say that I've been interested in the MDR-2496 is an understatement. However, ever since I've heard about it, I can no longer find Mackie online. I've tried Mackie.Com and Mackiedesigns.Com, and with either of those (this is peculiar) Internet Explorer either can't find the page or it locks up. I can go to every other location I know about, but since the MDR came out, Mackie, for me, has disappeared as far as online goes... just when I needed to find out more.
What makes this doubly uncomfortable is that the MDR is supposedly on sale for $2,000.00 through Oct. 31st, and then the price goes up considerably. I would have already purchased if I knew where to ask them just a couple of questions. Does anyone around here know what gives? Both the HDR and the MDR look interesting, but the MDR looked like a VERY good way to start in my situation.

Well, it turns out that, on my system at least, it didn't like the fact that I was using IE 5.5. I just recently upgraded to IE 6 and suddenly Mackie.Com is "back" with no problems whatsoever. It was really very strange, though, because going to that site always locked me up.
Now, having gone there and left some pre-sales questions on their provided form (several days ago), I am awaiting some information. It appears that the price is still intact, but I still need answers to some pretty specific questions. Once I know, I'd probably put my order in "yesterday".
I'm sure that I am not the only person that has been wanting to carefully weigh the differences, advantages and disadvantages of both the Mackie MDR and the same-priced (for now, at least) Alesis HD24. At the moment, I feel more confident in Mackie's overall stability as a company, but that might change if and when Alesis starts moving a solid number of HD24s out the door.
