I'm working at home, and have been for about a year and a half. It's pretty cool most of the time. It's hard being home but not really getting to spend time with your family. I have a Pro Tools Mix Plus, 3 farms, some neve and avalon stuff. I can do good mixes here but I do miss going out and hanging with the boys. Used to be you would record at home then go into a real studio to mix. Now I go to the studio to record drums and stuff, then come back home to do overdubs and mix.

I'm just starting the work at home venture..I'm going to get to liking it very much too!! I use Nuendo with a PIII 650 416MB RAM..Roland JP8000..DigiTech RP7 going into a Fender Ultimate Chorus..I have a Mackie 1402..Echo Layla(20bit model) Tascam US428..Also have about every known software and plugins too..dont use em all..but I got em!!
Plus a 1.3Ghz machine to do webdesign and graphics!! I never get bored I tell you!

My mastering room is at home. It's basically a "project mastering"room. I use a Mac G4, MOTU 2408, Tascam DA-30, Peak and the Waves native gold bundle. I generally work without the clients here and I can work at my own pace, within reason. It's a lot different than working with someone wanting to do the next thing, or asking questions about something that is ten steps down the line. Tracking and mixing are the bulk of my business, which is, for me, a lot more fun. Even if I have people wanting to do the next thing of asking about things that are ten steps away. ;)

I also work at home a lot. I do a lot of free lance work for a radio station and a TV station. I use Pro Tools LE with Digi 001 for music recording and Nuendo for post production.
I am very satisfied with my PTLE with Digi001 'cause I raelly had my doubts about win 98. But it sure works good.
The funny thing is, that I bought a MXL mic the other day, and I have to say, that I really really like the mic. I already have access to tons of Neumann and B&K, but the MXL has become my favorite.
Have you guys tested the MXL mics???

Which MXL did you get? I really like the v77's on some thin voices.

I have a private studio at my home. I'm using PT/P Control 16 with an Apogee AD8KSE and 4-888's clocked by an Ard. Outboard includes TC6000, Sony DRES777, 480L, Hedd192, Distressors, Massive Passive and Vari-Mu, TubeTech SMC2B, Vipre, ISA215, API3124s, Buzz Ma2, U5s, Manley Ref, Sony 800G, R121, and a KH moded C24/251 switchable. My monitors 1032AS and A.D.A.M.s(which I love!). I still want a large console/24 track again though. I really miss the drum sounds, etc... I used to get, but PT serves my purpose pretty well really at this point. It's definitely not analog though. It just doesn't glue as well/easily. You have to work harder.

I run a Soundtracs Solo 24*8 console to a 1.2 gHz Athlon based computer via a MOTU 2408 and Tango24 converters, with the computer running SAWPro and both VST and DirectX plugs. My studio is a 300 sq ft addition to my house. I have a PC, mixer, rack gear and a DJ coffin (with it's own mixer and two CD players in it) sitting on an 11' curved desk. There's also a turntable, which gets used often. I monitor with free-standing biamped 15" main speakers at about 9 or 10' distance, no nearfields. The mixes seem to transfer just fine to the club systems they are intended to be played on.

A DJ and I are using this setup to remix dance music. He spins, I play guitar and do the mouse clicks in Nuendo and Wavelab. We have a great time, playing with our toys, burning CD's. So far, the music is going over locally pretty well, to our astonishment.

I have a full drum kit and Marshall half stack in there too, in case friends come over and we feel like getting too loud. Concrete floor, paneled and glass walls - it's a loud room!
