Yeah, 9.1 is really cool, but for new machines, I'd go for 9.22 (fresh install). But you should at least get the Firewire-extensions from 9.22, (it's v.2.8.6, as I remember) even staying on 9.1! AFAIK, anything above 9.1 won't install on beige machines without a hack.
