They're everywhere? Google brings back gazillions - the only real issues are what the term 'royalty free' means? It doesn't necessarily mean free as in no cost, it might mean that you pay a small fee and if you make millions with it - the ten dollars or whatever is all you pay. It could be that it's totally free for domestic use, but if it's on Youtube that could be different. If you create music and use an aggregator to get it on all the platforms, one question is always asking if you used samples, and if you did - even public domain ones cause grief.
However - that all said, you mentioned FX - so I'm guessing noises, soundscapes, percussive noises, sirens, helicopters that kind of thing? You'll find them all over the net and you then read the terms "Free for domestic use, but banned from public performance" or "not released for public performance" so you really need to be on the ball.
Images, sound and video clips are all available totally free if you look hard. Others appear to be free but you must read the small print, and above all, save a copy of the web source you got it from in case of issues. What kind of FX are you after?
Technical yes, but I'm not really available at the moment with the current situation. The snag with this content is that I don't have access to the gear, and normally, I'd be going to places that do this kind of thing and then recording them, and that's not possible at the mo.
paulears - Oh, damn, thats a shame...was looking for a completion date of around Monday the 8th. Forward on from your first reply, and using pcrecord's link will check these samples (doubting my luck though)
One of the hardest to do is the noise of the rope. In the movies, they all make the sound you have in your mind, but two or three years back I was doing a job at a sports centre where they were doing rescue training and their kit made very quiet, 'zippy' noises, quite unlike what you have in your head, so it needs creating from rope and things to rub against! Time scale is a bit tight - but why not experiment with the mic you just bought?

We obviously can't do the job for you and deal with your deadline..
All the questions are just messing me, I honestly don't know what you are looking for..
Are you making sounds for a game, a movie, just having fun... Are those nature sounds or artificials, you are looking for.. combat, magic weapons sounds.. ?
If it's folley sound, search for those terms.. Or search for the sounds one by one.. Birds sound sample, etc...
If it's for a job, you might want to pay for some bundles.. I'm sure you can find many online..
Creating clean audio samples is hard work.
I know there are a lot of platforms like artist or loop master, but you can get music there only from lite version, so you don't have acces to all the materials they have. The best way is to find a platform to which you will pay less but you will have the same amount. For example I subscribed on https://depositphotos.com/music.html for $19 per month and I have unlimited access to everything they have. The sounds and music are really cool and they sorted everything, so it is easy to find what you want.
