I really loved your thunderous drums... sweet. I really liked her vocal but I think she could have benefited from a lot more compression followed by a De-esser? Otherwise the tonality is very sweet. And I think this would just lift her up a little bit more along with taming her sibilance?

Overall it was very pleasant to listen to. I really don't have much to bitch about here.

I'm with Remy on this one. Sibilance is evident.

This problem will vary from vocalist to vocalist, mic to mic, male to female....it's not as if you can just attenuate 4k all the time and expect it to work for every singer.

You could try using a de esser as Remy mentioned, or you could focus in on the 4k to 8k region, use a tight Q and sweep until you find the offending frequency. My guess is it's probably around 6 or 7k... just a guess.

There is nice "air" on her track, but to my ears, it's lacking some body and warmth. Consider adding a bit of 200hz to 300hz to warm her up a bit... again, this is a ballpark frequency suggestion.

You're not all that far off here. Get ahold of the sibilance, add a bit of compression, maybe start out around 2:5:1, set your thresh at around -8db or so, use a moderate attack and release time, and I think you'd be there.

Her vocal-it seems to me that the sibilant sound is "in" right now, but listen to the other guys if they say its too much. I too would think her voice could use some mid lows.

Things I would look at:

Your thermonuclear low end. i did a quickie comparison of your track to a few from my iPod and and yours waaay too heavy in the bottom end, like everything below about 100 or so. I would at least do a comparison and see if you hear it too.

It really feels like everything else is stomping on her vocal, especially in the beginning. When we're hearing this on the wal Mart speakers we need to be able to hear her vocal loud and clear.

I personally am not a fan of acoustic guitars in which all you can hear is the sound of the pick. But that's subjective, and its mostly when the band is going hot and heavy anyway.

Again, comparing to other songs it seems like there isn't much in the mid range, and isn't that really where 90% of music takes place?

Again, I'm no pro, so don't go running off to your mixing board based on what I say, but I do think you ought to do some more comparisons between your mix and others in the main stream, like some top level female country artists(not others in the Christian genre. I'm in that one too, and our gene pool isn't deep enough for us to have the best producers and engineers.)
