A Studio Projects C-1, MXL 77S (tube mic), or check out sites around the web that are selling AM GT61, or 62's for less than a third of thier list price.

Might look into Rode NTK..it sems to fit your needs

Yeah, the Rode NTK. that`s a good one. They have boosted the prices here recently. :(
There are two shops here in german which sell chinese tube mics for 444 €, which is about 46o $ (Fame and T-Bone). i was wondering if any of you guys know something of the quality.

Maybe an AT4033? It's in the right price range and should work out nicely in those applications.

Is the AT 4033 different in sound from the AGK C 3000 I own?

For what it is worth I really dig the AT 4033, especially on Acoustic Guitar recording. I usually use a SM-81 on the sound hole and an AT 4033 near the 12th fret. I would say I place them about a foot away (depending on how percussive I want the sound) and mix them accordingly or even pan them to give a wider effect.

It is definitely a good mic. I also have a Studio Projects C1 but prefer the AT for Acoustic Guitar and such.

Hope this helps a little...again it is all preference and opinion.

Trauma, FWIW Studio Projects is coming out shortly
with the TB-1 (tube) microphone.
It will compete with the NTK and it costs less!

You may even want to check the newer Groove Tubes mics...the GT66 is priced about the same as an NTK and in my humble opinion, gives the NTK a run for the money.
