I'm looking into getting some monitors and I have listened to the HS80M's and liked how my CD sounded through them at the store. They seemed to be clear and the low end was pretty good.
What does everyone like about them/why should I purchase these?
What is everyone's complaint with them/is there any reason that I should not purchase these monitors?
Thanks!

a lot of people say they're only mediocre, but after extensive listening (i used to work at guitar center  ), these are the ones i went with.
nice and clean. they're pretty full-sounding, unlike a lot of them (krk speakers) which are too heavy in the mids and not enough low end. i think they're a bit more expensive than necessary, but they sound really good.

ok true,
thats the thing about studio monitors .. they should make your music sound BAD.
most speakers (home theatre) are designed to make your music sound good. a studio monitor should reveal all the details, nuances, transients, etc. that way you can fix those and make it sound even *better* on speakers that make music sound good.
these hs80m's are not the most revealing. maybe thats why i like them .. everything sounds good!

Yeah when you listen to your mix through the speakers for the first time you should say WTH I never heard that before. If you don't either you are a seasoned pro or the speakers are not any good and you need to look at better monitors. Yeah oversimplified I know.
