I can't do a comparison to ProD series but the J48 Radial I bought sounds fantastic, it is truly clean and has awesome headroom. When I first got it I ran it in every concievable set up A/B against every other set up I had used previously, very impressive.
I have the JDI, it is also great. I have countryman, whirlwind and buch on cheaper ones I have forgotten about. The JDI is a very simple and transparent DI that sounds great.
It's my preferred DI. If I need two, I add my Rapco (forget the model).
I also own two B*er GI-100s, w/ a cab simulation. Eh.
Those only get used if I MUST have 3 or 4 DI boxes.
+12 for the JDI. The Jensen transformer seems to make all the difference. Haven't tried a lot of DI's, but after getting the JDI, I don't really feel a need to. I also have a ProDI, if I remember correctly, which has sat on a shelf collecting dust since the JDI arrived.
I loved JDI so much I copied it, well sort of... I built my version out of parts I had on hand. The only real part I copied from the JDI was the Jensen XFMR. I added a larger input cap to mine in hopes of extending the low freq. information. But to my ear my box sounds identical to the JDI. Those Jensen XFMR's are just that good!

Sounds like a good idea - It'd be nice to have vs. mono keyboards in mixes sometimes...
