Hello everyone...again. My new post is about DAWs. I started into recordings using Sonar 8.5 64bit, borrowed from a friend of mine. When I started some lessons on recording and mixing, the instructor told me everything in Cubase 5.
Now I'm between two Sonar X1 or Cubase 6.
I need them for Recording - Mixing & Mastering.

It sounds to me to be a matter of personal preference. Which feels more comfortable to use? Which do you think you have a better understanding of? Any of the major software programs are full featured. It comes down to which you like better.

I'm really confused because I like them both....please vote if you can. That will help me. From your answer I can assume that you like Sonar as well, right ?

Actually, I've never used Sonar before. I've used cubase all the way back since VST 3.8 I think it was. It really is just what you are comfortable with. You might want to consider Reaper. A lot of people swear by it and it's free to use without any crippling of the software and only $40 or so to buy the license that even entitles you to free upgrades.
Have to agree. I've used both and I have Sonar 8.5 but I prefer
Have to agree. I've used both and I have Sonar 8.5 but I prefer Cubase. Sonar is really a full featured software now though. You could go and compare feature for feature but I think you'll find that they are relatively comparable. Go with what you know already.

There's really no way to vote fairly. Our opinions really count for nothing. If what you are accustomed to is Cubase, use it. If it's Sonar, use that. You've got to stand on your own two feet.

Fair enough....but if you love both....what you do ??? Sonar has it's pros and cons the same for Cubase !!!!

If your OS is PC 64bit with 8 gig of RAM or greater and its a newer PC and you are big with Midi and VSTi, Sonar might be the better choice.
Try the demo's!

It is 64 ready.....I have the X1 demo, I love the X1 but I can't manage the MIDI Editor. I think Cubase has more easy MIDI Editor...here comes the comfusion....I love both programs but they have some pros and cons !!!! I'm really confused !!! Damn it !!! What should I do !!!

if you can't manage the midi editor, why would you be considering Sonar. Asking this question is not something we can help you with. The better DAW is the one you are able to work with (workflow). Neither sounds better.
If I was paying you by the hour to record or produce or master my music, which one would you be able to work with better?
If one is better at mastering for you, but you record and mix better with the other, buy both or learn how to use the one that gets A to Z faster and more proficient. Do the math.

This is what I was thinking at last....I think this is the right think to do !

Someone i know of is selling their Waves Platinum in favor of the plugs that come with X1 Producer... there are definitely more (and better) bangs for your bucks with Sonar. Never really liked cubase though, so.

I turned to Sonar X1 64bit....I worked a lot to get to know the MIDI editor and finaly I can tell everythink now works great....its a great software...much better than Cubase.... It was a good choice !!!

Sonar X1. Based on the fact that while they are both definitely excellent choices Sonar's Customer support is excellent while Steinberg Nuendo/Cubase is notoriously awful. They have a lousy forum and are little help to anyone. Certainly can't say that about Cakewalk. Heck the CEO often post's in the Cakewalk forum as does all the go to important folks at Cakewalk.
I have them both and Use Sonar exclusively.
